The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Iwo State Assembly in the just concluded election, Alhaji Rufai Adeniyi Ismail (RAI) has described the pronouncement of the Osun State Governorsip Election Petition Tribunal as the victory for democracy,hailing the judiciary for restoring the mandate willfully given to Senator Ademola Adeleke by the people of the state.
A three-man panel in Abuja,the nation’s capital, declared Senator Adeleke as the winner of last year governorship election in the state, upholding the ground of petitions argued against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcement of Gboyega Oyetola.
In his reaction to the verdict, Alh. Adeniyi Rufai congratulated Senator Adeleke, PDP and the entire people of Osun for getting justice,adding that the Tribunal judges have demonstrated that judiciary remained the last hope of the deprived and oppressed.
He saluted Senator Adeleke for his tenacity, courage, resilience and firmness in pursuing the mandate of the people, noting that “his (Adeleke) victory at the Tribunal is a liberation for Osun people from the claws impostors, who have worsen the situation of the people.”
“By the pronouncement of the tribunal panel, the truth, which everyone in Osun are much aware of, have prevailed and justice served on the people, who now appreciate the restoration of their mandate,” the PDP chieftain added
“This victory is indeed, one that will further strengthen our democracy and send a strong signal that no one would rob the people of their mandate without justice taking it’s course.
“On behalf of my family, RAI CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION and entire PDP faithfuls in Osun and, indeed, all lovers of Justice in Nigeria and beyond, rejoice with you on this moment of truth and succour for the distressed people of Osun state, believing that no matter how hard the purveyor of injustice strive, justice and truth will forever prevail.”
Alh. Rufai said the tribunal judgement has served a final notice to electoral manipulators and agents of falsehoods, observing that any attempt to contest the verdict is nothing but a waste of time.
He expressed confidence in the Judiciary to uphold “the victory of Senator Adeleke to the end as the people of Osun resoundingly voted him as Governor before desperate manipulators upturn the peoples mandate.”
